My story

let me introduce myself

hi.

My name is Lucie Brennan, friends and family call me Lucy. I was always drawn to photography. As far as I can remember. Maybe it is in my blood as I have a vivid memory of watching my dad developing 35mm film in his darkroom set up in our 1 bedroom apartment bathroom. Maybe it is the super power to freeze a moment in our lives and capture memories.

A couple of years back, when I got my first digital, very basic camera, my friends asked me if I could take pictures of their wedding. I said yes... little did I know how to shoot a wedding or how to be a photographer. That's how it all began. Shooting a wedding in the middle of the mountains beside a turquoise lake in Banff National Park. Dream came true! Ever since then, I knew that this is a journey I want to follow.

a little bit more about me.

As I like to say I am Czech-Canadian. I was born and raised in the beautiful capital city of Czech Republic, Prague. When I was in my twenties, I moved to Ireland where I met my hubby John. We got married in Czech Republic and lived there for a couple of years. About 10 years ago, we decided to pack our bags and together with our puppies moved to Canada where we have been since. I am based in Red Deer, Alberta where we have settled down and found a wee house we call home. If we are not home, you will probably find us somewhere in the mountains on an adventure in our little camper, the iconic Canadian egg shaped Boler. We have fallen in love with Canada, with the beautiful wilderness of the Rocky Mountains and vast prairies and the badlands. Our love for nature and exploring new destinations translates deeply into my work.

the Rockies on 35mm film.

I always loved working with a film. In fact my very first camera was film camera from the 70' that my dad gave me, his old camera Praktica. I started to hike and backpack 3 years ago and I always have my dad's old camera with me. I love the way film captures the light, the colors, the shades. So started to capturing the beauty of the Rockies on 35mm film, made calendars and shared it with my family back home in Czech. Every year I made more and more calendars and started to sell them as well as prints and now you can buy photos from the series called "Shades and Colors of the Rockies" in my online print shop.

My wee family. John, Nelson and Motly.

In our happy place. Somewhere in the mountains with our boler.

thank you.

Thank you for being here and your interest in my work. It means a lot to me. I hope that through my eyes I can capture precious moments in your life and create memories for years to come. Your most genuine moments, celebrations of your love and connection to each other. The big and the small occasions or just because you are feeling good and loved.

If you are planning an elopement on top of a mountain in your favorite national park or want to capture your engagement in place close to your heart, I would love to hear from you and be your photographer.

I invite you to check my portfolio and if my work speaks to you, let's talk. Let's start to plan your next adventure and let's have fun along the way.
